Pregnancy is an incredible thing to experience. It comes with many ups and downs, like morning sickness and back pain…. but the feeling of growing and carrying your baby, feeling those movements in your belly and the anticipation of meeting your little one are un-matched.
Maternity sessions are an incredible way to preserve those happy memories, and capture those feelings to be able to look back at down the line. Growing your baby, embracing the change of your body and mind is truly something to be celebrated.

Here are some tips to prep you for your Maternity Session.
#1 Select the right outfit
Picking what to wear for your maternity session in Victoria, BC can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. The key is to choose an outfit that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and beautiful, while also complementing your session location.
Flowing dresses, soft neutrals, and pastels work beautifully outdoors - whether you’re on a beach, in a park, or surrounded by Victoria’s forested landscapes. If dresses aren’t your vibe, don’t worry! A casual jean look is totally in style and trendy too. The most important thing is that you feel like comfortable and confident.
#2 Choose the perfect location
The location of your maternity session can completely set the mood for your photos. In Victoria BC, there are so many beautiful options- from the sandy beaches of East Sooke Park, to the bluffs on Dallas Road, to lush Parks like Beacon Hill Park or Hatley Castle. Choosing a location that feels meaningful to you, and compliments your outfit will make your photos look natural and timeless. If you want a more intimate feel, consider booking a session at your home or in my studio.
Through all of my years as a photographer, I have discovered some incredibly beautiful spots, so I’m always happy to help you nail down the perfect location for you.
#3 Schedule your session at the right stage of pregnancy
For the most flattering and comfortable maternity photos, timing your session is key. Most clients choose to book their session between 32 and 35 weeks when your baby bump is beautifully defined, but you’re still feeling relatively comfortable.
Scheduling within this window helps sure you can move around easily during your session and capture a variety of poses without feeling too tired. Every pregnancy is different so I always work with you to find a perfect timing that fits your body your schedule and your vision.
#4 Including your partner, children or pets
Maternity sessions are even more meaningful when you include the people ( or furry friends ) who will be a part of your family journey. Bringing your partner adds natural intimacy and connection to your photos, while including older children and pets can make the session feel joyful and authentic.
Coordinating outfits for the family helps create a cohesive look without feeling overly matchy and I guide you through poses that feel natural rather than forced.
