There are so many variables while planning out the proposal, but I have captured so many now that I have a back up plan, for the back up plan. "Kelsey is friendly, responsive, and quick to deliver photos. She was a huge help planning my proposal. I proposed to my girlfriend while we were visiting Victoria from Oregon in October. I messaged Kelsey a month in advance and we found time within a few days to get on a phone call and plan. I checked out the park ahead of time using Google street view and had a spot in mind for the proposal, but having never been to Victoria I was nervous about picking somewhere that would feel right in-person. Kelsey suggested a different spot nearby that had a better view and was more secluded than the place I'd originally planned. My fiancée and I have a running joke about rubber ducks, so for a personal touch I wanted to plant one ahead of time at the proposal spot. Kelsey offered to set it up if I shipped it to her, so I FedExed it to her studio and she had it planted at the spot in advance. The proposal went off perfectly and the photos turned out great! Kelsey captured the moment from a park bench a ways away and my fiancée had no idea she was there until she came up to us. We both felt totally comfortable posing for some non-candid shots. "I reached out to Kelsey a few months before my surprise proposal to my fiancée. We are from Seattle and had never visited Victoria, British Columbia, before. Initially, I considered proposing near the Fairmont Empress or Butchart Gardens, but Kelsey explained that those locations tend to be quite busy. Since privacy was important to us, she recommended East Sooke Regional Park—and it was absolutely the perfect choice.
The scenery was breathtaking, with countless opportunities for incredible photographs. Kelsey knows the area exceptionally well and was able to guide us to some truly stunning locations that made the entire experience feel magical.
Kelsey is a true professional in every sense of the word. She was easy to work with, highly organized, and supportive throughout the entire process. She coached me through every step leading up to one of the most important days of our lives, helping ensure everything went smoothly.
On the day of the proposal, Kelsey was already in position before we arrived, casually taking photos of the surrounding scenery so as not to draw any attention. Since this was a surprise proposal, she cleverly told us she had spotted some otters near the edge of the cliff. As it turns out, there were no otters, but I was completely convinced and spent a good amount of time searching for them! Looking back, it's a hilarious memory and a brilliant way to get us exactly where we needed to be.
As planned, she offered to take a photo of us with my iPhone. After positioning us perfectly, she slipped my phone into her pocket, switched to her professional camera, and that was my cue to propose. My fiancée was completely surprised, and Kelsey captured every moment beautifully. Afterward, she guided us down to the beach, where we were able to take even more stunning photos to celebrate the occasion.
