How to book a session, and what to expect!

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Booking a #PhotographySession for your first time can seem a little intimidating at first, but I don't want it to feel that way. I want it to be a fun, easy experience for you.

Starting off the process, think about what type of session you would like to book. Outdoor beach session? Intimate studio session? Regardless, you don't have to make the decision right away but it helps me to guide you to the right package for you. We have SO many incredible locations on #VancouverIsland, and the possibility's are endless. I have created an exclusive location guide with information and photos for some of my favourite spots.

Next step, is to determine how many people and who will be included in your photos. Is it a session for just mom and babes, or will it be the entire family of 25 people? This is also a great thing to know before booking, but can also be adjusted or discussed. This is huge for choosing a location as well, as booking for 2 people can be easier to find the right spot, rather than squishing 25 people on the side of a mountain!

When you have thought about these first two steps, the next move is to contact me! You can contact me by email, phone, instagram or Facebook messenger. I am constantly checking all inboxes, but by phone is always the quickest and easiest way to discuss all of the details. If you would prefer to video chat, and figure out if I have the energy and vibe your looking for, then we can do that too! Like I mentioned, I strive to create an easy going experience for you right from the start.

If I'm the right fit for you, time to book a date and find a location. Generally I'm booking 1-2 months out for standard sessions, but if your planning to book a #wedding or #elopement with me- book 1 year in advance. (I will be posting a blog dedicated to just weddings, so stay tuned for that.) I'm always happy to help with outfit coordination, and provide many useful tips for planning the perfect style. I also have a client wardrobe with a few lovely dresses to choose from. I also know plenty of rental places that have a wide variety of outfit options if you are feeling spontaneous!

Flash forward to our session day, we will meet at our set location at the discussed time, and start the fun! I know personally, even being a #Photographer, it can feel out of your comfort zone to work into the poses- so I start off nice and easy, and gradually move into the more fun prompts and poses. I strive for natural poses, while still directing you to create the best outcome. We have fun, laugh and create memories.. oh ya, and take photos! LOL. Im very easy going, and love to meet new clients and to see my old clients and catch up.

After the session, you can expect to have your photos delivered within a week. Generally, I deliver my edited photos the next day, but that's always dependant on how busy I am with sessions. I like to guarantee a week, but if for any reason it would be longer- I will always keep you updated. When I'm finished editing, I will send you a private online gallery, for you to choose and download your photos from. You can even order prints right through the same link. I'm always here to help, if need be. I can walk you through the download process over the phone, though it is quite straight forward and you shouldn't have any issues at all.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I ask for an honest review to my google or Facebook page. Feedback truly helps me grow as a Photographer, and helps my business as well!

I hope this blog post shows you exactly how your session will go. With over 10 years experience, I have nailed it down to these few steps to ensure smoothness throughout the whole process. Feel free to send me an email with any questions that I may have missed! Hope to see your name in my emails soon! xx Kelsey
